The Adelaide United stopper, 28, has been in stunning form this season at Hindmarsh as the Reds have pushed Brisbane Roar and Central Coast Mariners  for a spot in the top two.

Fyfe, who headed back to South Australia in 2009 after 88 appearances for Sydney FC, said the move to Hindmarsh has proven to be the right one.

“I think I’ve moved at the right time. At 28 I now feel I’m in the best form of my career and at my peak so really looking forward to the challenge,” he told au.fourfourtwo.com at Sydney airport.

“It was the right move [to transfer away from Sydney to Adelaide]. It’s worked out well. Obviously you always have one eye on Asia when you play in the A-League and so when the deal came up I was rapt.

“It feels like I’m in the best form of my career so hopefully I can repay their faith.”

Kingsford Smith Airport was the place to be with another A-League star on his way to a big AFC league. Sydney FC’s Alex Brosque flew out this morning bound for Japanese club Shimizu S-Pulse.

Fyfe will also head to Japan in the coming days for a pre-season training camp with his new club. And the former 1999 Joey was happy that Adelaide United – his hometown club – were paid a transfer fee from Busan with one year left on his contract.

“The deal got done pretty quickly," he said. "It was good timing now I’m 28-years-old. I’ve played almost six seasons in the A-League and now it’s time to move on to something else.”

Fyfe now joins fellow A-League star Bas van den Brink at Busan after the Gold Coast United defender agreed to join the K-League club last week (though the Dutchman is currently under an injury cloud following last weekend’s bruising encounter with Melbourne Victory).

In a growing band of A-League players bound for the K-League, Brisbane Roar star defender Luke DeVere inked a deal with Gyeongnam FC last week.

The trio will lock horns with newly capped Socceroo and Asian Player of the Year Sasa Ognenovski at Seongnam – the current ACL champions.

“Big Sash has gone over there and paved a way for the likes of myself and other defenders,” added Fyfe.

“Full credit goes to him and it’s great to have a few Aussies over there and play against them and have a chat after the games. But it’ll be all business on the park for me at Busan.”
