An Azzurri win at Hampden Park will send Les Bleus through to the final of Euro 2008.

Should the match finish in a draw or Scotland win, then France will need a point from their trip to Ukraine next Wednesday to make sure of a place in Austria and Switzerland.

Facing the World Cup quarter-finalists in Kiev will not be an easy task so Arsenal star Gallas is hoping Italy can do them a favour at the weekend.

He told his club's official website, www.arsenal.com: "We will watch the game between Scotland and Italy.

"I'm sorry but I hope Scotland lose.

"I'm not surprised that Scotland are challenging, they are a good team and they give their maximum."

The Arsenal player hopes the qualifying places will not be determined on the final round of games.

"It's a tough game (to go to Kiev), but everyone knows we may have to draw there."

As for watching the game, Gallas may not be aware of France coach Raymond Domenech's edict on Wednesday when he said the Les Bleus players would not be allowed to watch the Scotland v Italy game.

Instead, Domenech wants them to watch their next opponents, Ukraine face Lithuania, as preparation for Wednesday.
