Alex Gersbach's Rosenborg have booked their spot in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League after knocking out last season's finalists.
Rosenborg held a 1-0 advantage going into the second leg at home after defeating Ajax away in the opening game of the tie.
Things started well for the Norwegian side, with Nicklas Bendtner giving them the lead on 25 minutes on Thursday.
However, Ajax struck back on the hour mark and scored twice on two minutes, bringing the aggregate score back to 2-2 but ahead on away goals.
But Rosenborg didn't panic, with a brace from substitute Samuel Adegbenro wrapping up a 3-2 win and 4-2 victory on aggregate.
Socceroo defender Alex Gersbach was once again an unused substitute, but the guarantee of more games this season will give the 20-year-old more chance of game time.
The draw for the group stage takes place on Friday night (AEST).
