It is less than two weeks until the Olympic adventure begins for Team GB's footballers.

Stuart Pearce's men returned from a pre-tournament training camp in Spain on Monday, and attention now turns to the opener against Senegal.

"I think everyone in the squad has got responsibility," the Manchester United midfielder said.

"But obviously as captain and one of the more experienced players along with Craig (Bellamy) and Micah (Richards) as well - the three over-23 lads - there's a big onus on them to make sure the atmosphere is good.

"And the quality of training is good and that the expectation is there and that we live up to that expectation.

"As captain, and a senior pro in the team, you've got to look after those things and it's one I'm very comfortable with."

The veteran midfielder, who will be leading the first Team GB to have competed in men's Olympic football since 1960, said there is no reason that the side shouldn't appear beyond the London Games.

"I hope it is not a one off, based on what I have experienced and how much I have enjoyed it this week," Giggs told reporters.

"I hope in future Olympics there will be more Great Britain teams.

"Both Craig (Bellamy) and I are Welsh and proud of it, but for me it was a chance I could not turn down, of playing in the biggest sporting event in the world.

"I have had nothing but positive feedback from the people I know, wanting me to do well. The different FAs may have opposed it, but people who I have met face to face have been nothing but positive.

"I am not a politician, but from what I have experienced, I just hope fellow British footballers can experience what I have."

Before facing Senegal, however, England host Brazil in a pre-tournament friendly at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium on Friday.

And it offers fans the chance to see the likes of their most talented players in action, including Neymar, Oscar and and Damiao in action.

"Who better to play against than Brazil, everyone wants to see a Brazilian team play," Giggs said.

"So after that the tournament starts, and we hope the fans can come out and support us.

"I'm sure they will and help us go far in the competition, which is what everyone wants."
