The Welsh winger played in his 700th competitive game for the Red Devils in the 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday and now has Sir Bobby Charlton's United appearance record of 759 in his sights.

Giggs has played a part in each of United's eight Premiership titles to date and has been a key component of the side which could claim a ninth this season, with Sir Alex Ferguson's team nine points ahead of second-placed Chelsea.

The 33-year-old insists he is now just savouring every last second of action.

"Because you get older and year on year you are getting closer to the end, you try to enjoy it a lot more," Giggs told MUTV.

"The aim is to win every game and every competition, because it might be the last FA Cup final you play in, it might be the last FA Cup game you play in. You try and make the most of it, you try and win as much as you can."

Giggs could realistically surpass Charlton's appearance landmark at some stage next season injuries permitting, but he said: "That is something that is getting talked about a lot more, (but) it's something that I've not really taken any notice of.

"If I did it would be great, it would be a tremendous achievement."

On reaching the 700 milestone, Giggs added: "I won't dwell on it for too long because like I keep saying you look to the next step, for the next game."
