A wild battle in the West saw Perth Glory come back from being a goal down to win 2-1 against Central Coast Mariners in Round 3 of the A-League at nib Stadium on Sunday.
In a match that should have had a few more goals, much like their 3-3 draw last season, it was a day full of chances.
But it was Wout Brama for the visitors who was able to find the back of the net with a strike that flew past Liam Reddy, for the Mariners’ only goal.
And although the Mariners started well, Captain, Andy Keogh equalised for his side, and after many chances, Adam Taggart scored the winner.
PERTH GLORY
Liam Reddy - 7
Rose in the air to claim the ball many times and kept Perth in the game.
Could not do much about Brama’s rocket to opening the scoring.
Jeremy Walker - 7
Caught on the break early, in a chance that was too close for comfort for the Glory defence.
But made great tackles to re-establish himself and worked well with Harold and Castro but wasn’t able to contain Pain.

Scott Neville - 6.5
The former Wanderer was caught out a lot by Appiah and Asdrubal, but he made some crucial clearances.
Shane Lowry - 7.5
Blocked a threatening low shot by Asdrubal in the sixth minute.
Met Castro’s corner to head wide of the post in a good effort that came dangerously close, and sent a long ball to Taggart for their second goal.
Joseph Mills - 5.5
Was fairly quiet throughout the match but was able to string together a few passes.
Chris Harold - 7.5
Made several great runs forward and got in behind, he also had a chance that flashed across goal in the second half.
Harold linked-up superbly with Castro and Taggart to create chances.
Andreu Guerao - 6.5
Placed a sumptuous through ball for Taggart who was just offside. Tried to get more accurate balls through but wasn’t able to make his usual impact in midfield.
Xavi Torres - 5.5
Another Spaniard on Glory’s list with noticeable La Liga experience.
Thwarted Roux’s whipped cross, but other than that, he didn’t make a huge impact for Perth.
Diego Castro - 7.5
Was able to find his feet after a quiet few minutes and looked dangerous with direct passes and was the main man in Glory’s counter-attack.
Was lively and won the ball countless times.

Adam Taggart - 8.5
The striker was named in Round 2’s Team of the Week after netting a brace against Newcastle, and he now has three goals to his name for the season thus far.
His first chance came from a Keogh pass, but he miss-timed his kick in front of goal to equalise. He was then at the post for Lowry’s header, and although he stretched out, it went wide only by a few inches and couldn’t get a touch.
He couldn’t capitalise after a few more chances, but finally scored in tremendous fashion with the winner, and also assisted Keogh for the initial equaliser.
Andy Keogh - 8
Beautiful run off of Castro’s pass to then cross in for Taggart in a massive chance to level.
Had a few chances before he put home a beautiful header to level the scoring.

Jake Brimmer, Brandon Wilson and Joseph Knowles all came on but didn’t do enough to warrant a fair rating.
CENTRAL COAST MARINERS
Tom Glover – 6.5
Stood firm in goals for the first 45 minutes and remained confident, but conceded two goals, in which the defence should have done better.
Storm Roux – 7.5
Created space for himself on the right, and drilled a few frightening crosses into the area, whilst pressing for 90 minutes.
Alan Baro - 6
The Mariners Captain led the line at the back well to catch Perth offside several times, and was able to recover well until Glory were able to get in behind as the first half went on.
However, in the second half, he, along with the rest of the Mariners defence could not stop Perth’s attack.

Antony Golec - 5.5
Strong defensively and recovered ground well, although he needed to keep an eye on Taggart’s runs, in which he was ultimately unable to do so.
Joshua Rose - 6
Mainly solid in the first half, but gave up possession for Castro to then cross for a threatening attack.
Also had a chance in front of goal after Golec’s lob.
Tom Hiariej - 7
The Dutchman has tremendous footwork, which assisted in his volleyed cross, but was cleared. He also had a fantastic chance with a strike in the 49th minute.
Daniel De Silva – 7.5
De Silva is becoming an important part to Paul Okon’s machine, and upon his A-League return, he scored his maiden goal last week.
The highly-rated playmaker earned his stripes once again and handled himself well after being a clear target of the Glory defenders. De Silva got himself into great areas, but couldn’t be the hero for his side on the day.
Wout Brama – 7
Latched onto Pain’s low cross and struck into the back of the net from 15 yards out for a deserved lead, but didn’t do a whole lot for the rest of the match.
Kwabena Appiah - 8
Made a blistering run in the first minute of the match and cut in to Asdrubal for a golden opportunity.
Was a hand-full, placing direct and dangerous passes in the box, and could have had a few chances of his own as he got in behind several times.
Asdrubal - 7
An electric player for the Mariners, who already has two goals in two games.
Missed a great opportunity in the opening minute in front of goal. Looked to threat but wasn’t able early, as well as a downward header in the 54th minute.
Another Mariner who wasn’t able to get on the scoresheet.

Connor Pain – 8.5
Threatening on the wing early and created many chances for his side throughout the match, whilst beating his marker and ran in with ease.
Directed a pin-point pass into the box to assist Brama.
SUBS
Trent Buhagiar - 6
Looked lively and quick as soon as he stepped onto the field, and made runs into the area.
Josh Bingham - 5.5
Was dangerous, had a chance late in the game but couldn’t control the ball, to his defence, there was too much on it.
Liam Rose – N/A
Wasn’t on long enough to warrant a fair rating.
