The team jetted out of the Gold Coast yesterday morning heading to New Caledonia on board one of Palmer's private jets, writes Lynette Keep, travelling with United.

Coach Miron Bleiberg said the treatment offered to the United players and staff was beyond five star luxury.

"I haven't dreamed about it and I believe there are players around the world who are earning hundreds of times more than our players and don't get such conditions," he said.

The trip is being used as a bonding session for the team and was suggested by the chairman himself.

"Clive's idea was to take the players up in the private plane before the start of the official season so they can see what we are giving them," explained Bleiberg from the plush comfort of a first class-quality leather seat.

"Sooner or later when we travel away, it will be part and parcel."

Gold Coast United Director Clive Mensink made no excuses for the top flight treatment of his squad.

"They are high achievers," said Mensink. "Clive Palmer is a high achiever. They are here to do what they can and we do things different for the benefit of the team."

But this trip is no holiday. The players had no sooner checked into their hotel when the coach ordered them out onto the training paddock, putting them through a light training session.

Gold Coast United will play a New Caledonian select XI side on Saturday night.
