THE Gold Coast United saga is being closely monitored by the players' union with the PFA's chief executive admitting the situation is unsettling.
Friday saw claims that United could be about to fold amid speculation that Clive Palmer was pulling the plug.
Gold Coast CEO Clive Mensink later rubbished that with Football Federation Australia expressing hope that United would remain an A-League club although falling short of cast iron guarantees.
"The PFA has discussed the situation with FFA and the players and will be closely monitoring any developments. The speculation is understandably unsettling for the players and we are pleased to see the club's public commitment that it is "business as usual," said chief executive Brendan Schwab.
