EXCLUSIVE: Western Sydney Wanderers are trialing former Greek youth team striker Giannis Simosis who, if signed, would not take up a visa spot due to the forward’s Aussie parentage.
Simosis, 21, has played for Greece at U-19 level in European qualifiers and was born in Greece, but he has an Australian passport due to his mother.
It’s understood the right-footed Simosis has played about 30 games in the Greek Super League and Second Division at clubs such as Panthrakikos and Panionios.
Wanderers were also trialling an unknown South Korean player last week as well as former A-League players Dylan Macallister and Jerrad Tyson.
