Having drawn their first leg 1-1 at the Stadio Olimpico 10 days ago, the Biancoceleste will travel to Romania on Tuesday hoping to keep their European dreams alive.

"We were unlucky with the opening leg result," said Lazio coach Delio Rossi. "But we still have 90 minutes left to play and although it will not be easy, I am confident we will do the job."

The result was not the only setback for Rossi and co as Guglielmo Stendardo, Emilson Cribari and Aleksandar Kolarov sustained injuries and have been ruled out for the opener against Torino.

Nevertheless, Rossi believes his team will not be affected.

"We have good players that can replace the injured ones," said Rossi. "In my team there are no bench players."

Unlike last season, where the Romans were handed a point-penalty deduction for their involvement in the match-fixing scandal, Lazio begin the campaign with no added pressure.

However, the Biancoceleste fans will expect their team to show the same fighting spirit that allowed them to finish in a respectable third position in the Serie A standings.

Opponents Torino begin the new campaign once again focusing primarily on avoiding the drop.

The Turin outfit finished fourth from bottom last season and narrowly escaped relegation.

"It's going to be crucial for us to start well," said midfielder Vincenzo Grella, who joined Toro from Parma earlier this summer.

"A good result on Saturday would put us on our way to be able to work in the next two months with calmness."

With a new manager in charge, Walter Novellino, who left Sampdoria last season, and a drastic makeover, with 12 new arrivals, there is room for optimism.

"We have a winning mentality," said Grella. "That is exactly what Novellino has brought into Torino and we have reason to be upbeat about our chances."

The arrival of experienced midfielders Eugenio Corini and Grella as well as strikers Sasa Bjelanovic, Nicola Ventola and David Di Michele, has given Toro a strong outfit.

"We will go to Rome with the idea of clinching a win," said Grella. "We have the quality and the players to do so.

"We have a lot of respect for Lazio, they are a big team but we fear no-one."

The visitors will be without injured midfielder Nicola Lazetic and striker Roberto Stellone.
