JOEL Griffiths scored an early winner as Beijing Guoan moved a point clear at the top of the Chinese Super League after a 1-0 win over Shanxi Zhongxin.
The former A-League golden boot winner, who is on loan from the Newcastle Jets, netted after just seven minutes at the Workers Stadium to hand the capital side a ninth win of the season.
Henan Jianye can regain top spot with victory over Jiangsu Shuntian tomorrow, while defending champions Shandong Luneng, who lie third, will look to remain in contention at Qingdao Jonoon on Sunday.
