Adelaide United new boy Ersan Gulum believes the club are on track to taste success in the upcoming A-League season.
United are in the process of re-building their squad under new boss Marco Kurz, following Guillermo Amor's departure at the end of last season.
Gulum is arguably the club's biggest signing this off-season, along with Danish winger Johan Absalonsen.
United finished a lowly ninth in the competition last year, a stark contrast to the season before where they won the Premiership/Championship double.
But Gulum says after sitting down with Kurz and Director of Football Ante Kovacevic, he is adamant the club are on the path to success.
“Before I actually signed with Adelaide, they brought me down a couple of weeks ago," Gulum said.
“Ante and Marco sat down with me and we had a good conversation about what he (Marco) wants to do with the club and what direction it’s going in.
“I’ve also heard about him (Marco), I played with ex-teammates at Besiktas who also were under him while he was at Hoffenheim and they told me good things about the coach.
“When you have a German coach it’s always good – discipline, work ethic, you always have to be top notch even at training with your performance.
“I think it’s going to be good with the young boys in the team as well, they can also see what it takes to be a player to be successful in Europe too.”
He added: “Adelaide is a big club and obviously it’s got history.
“I’m here to help the club again to be successful, when I spoke with Ante he spoke to me about the club’s ambitions.
“Yes it’s going through a rebuild at the moment, but it’s going through a good rebuild, the transfers that the club have made so far are really good.
“And I’m here to help the club and the team be successful again.”
Gulum also sent a message to the Adelaide fans, giving them an idea of what he is going to bring to the field next season.
“I play with passion I always have," he explained. "I come from a big club with passionate fans, so if you don’t give 100 per cent on the field you’ll hear about it.
“All I can tell them is that when I’m on the field they’ll know I’m playing for them and the club.
“The fans this year should get excited about the club itself, because the club is heading in the right direction.
“Last year wasn’t the best year for the club, but this year it’s going to be really good with new coaches, new transfers, we’re going to be successful."
