Queensland Roar's signing spree continues as they sign young back-up 'keeper Matt Ham.
23-year-old Ham gas been signed to a one-year contract following the departure of Tom Willis after attracting the eye of Frank Farina and Roar goalkeeping coach Fernando vaz Alves playing for Brisbane Premier League side Brisbane Wolves.
The imposing Ham - who stands at 194cm - is understandably overjoyed with his first professional contract.
“After training with the squad I was hoping I was in with a chance but the offer came right out of the blue. I was just enjoying the opportunity to train with top players and coaches so to be offered a professional contract is a dream come true for me - it’s a very exciting day,” he said.
Fernando vaz Alves is excited about working with another young talent.
“I’m really looking forward to working full-time with Liam Reddy. He’s a quality ‘keeper; very experienced and he sets high standards. I can only learn from him and hopefully in time I’ll be pushing hard for his place in the team, he said.
“He has the right mentality for a goalkeeper and a really good attitude. His size is another big plus and he will have a good physical presence in the penalty area.”
