The FFA granted majority shareholder Sidwell the 11th A-League franchise to develop a second club in Melbourne for the start of next season.

But yesterday it was revealed Sidwell has now been appointed chairman of Greek-based lottery firm Intralot which became Victory's main shirt sponsor this season. He officially takes over his new role in the next few days.

It comes hot on the heels of Gold Coast United owner Clive Palmer's move to become the major shirt sponsor of Queensland A-League rival North Queensland Fury.

Queensland Nickel-sponsored Fury now have a near-identical logo on their shirts to Gold Coast United's Mineralogy logo.

Troubled Intralot made 40 percent of its staff redundant earlier this week as part of a major restructuring to cut costs.
