The A-League club have been raving about Blumgart - one of four local unsigned players who will head to London later this week to prepare for the biggest adventure of their careers.

And Heart may just have found a future A-League player, according to football operations manager John Didulica.

“Alon’s a local Melbourne boy and he’s got a real future. He’s hard-working, great decision maker, and a lovely young kid who’s polite and a real professional," Didulica told au.fourfourtwo.com.

“No doubt the level will be pretty high [in London]. Whether or not they make it through the Nike process who knows but if they keep at it there’s got to be a place for them in the Australasian system."

Blumgart, from North Caulfield Maccabi Football Club,  played for Heart in a friendly last week against South Melbourne and starred according to Didulica.

The friendly was a scratch match for Heart players needing game time with Kristian Sarkies, Michael Beauchamp and Jason Hoffman lining up alongside the unknown Blumgart.

“Alon hasn’t really played at an elite level or being part of a formal representative structure. He’s just played for his school team but watching him now against South he played in the centre of midfield and Alon was sensational," said Didulica.

The other players heading to London next week include Sydney-based Mariners youth team keeper Niko Matic, defender Tom Doyle from Auckland City and the ACT’s Futsalroo Thomas Rogic, who all won through trials in 2010 to join 96 other unsigned talent from 42 countries to vie for eight full-time contracts at the Nike Academy.

It’s the chance of a lifetime and the stint with Heart has been invaluable for 18-year-old Blumgart, who's never played football professionally, but hopes to become a pro one day.

"I think we all agree that the talent identification in Australia – while it’s getting better – it’s certainly not fool-proof. A lot of quality players for many reasons can fall through the cracks. We need to make the player pool bigger and bigger rather than smaller," added Didulica.
