The AAMI Park based club has built a solid membership in their first season with around 5500 members. On the park Heart are on the precipice of an A-League finals berth in their first season.

What’s more, the red and whites’ hard-core “Yarraside” supporters have grown in number and provided wonderful colour in a city that already boasts the formidable blue and white brigade of Melbourne Victory.

But Munn concedes that boosting membership is one area the club must improve on next season.

“In Melbourne it’s probably a little down on where we’d have hoped to have been,” he conceded to au.fourfourtwo.com.

“That said we’ve specifically identified that as one of the key pillars of the club and we’ll be working diligently to grow that next year to 7500-10,000.”

Heart will undertake a de-brief post-season to look at areas they can improve on and off the park.

But Munn confirmed the club would continue to push their community model of engagement which includes reaching out to country Victoria and grassroots.

“The club has engaged over 25,000 children who wouldn’t otherwise have been engaged in football at a grassroots level,” he said.

“We’ll continue to do that. It’s a considerable investment by the club. We’re committed to it. It’s a long-term investment and it’s something we’ll continue to stand by.

“We want to stay true to what we set out for ourselves in the market-place. We think we’ve done that but it’s a long-term goal and something we have to constantly remind ourselves and work on.

"Overall I'd give us a pass grade."

As for the Muscat Zahra incident, Munn was keen to play it down saying that the issue had already been dissected by the media and public.

But he was keen to stress that Heart had underlined their credentials as a club that had a different style to Victory both on and off the park.

“We’re firmly focused on providing a point of difference in the market place," he said. "I think we’ve done a very good job in doing that.

“It’s not saying either is right or wrong, it’s just providing a point of difference at every level, from the coaches to the entire operations of the club.

"It’s something we’re focused on in terms of our club’s destiny."

And Munn believes his club's brand has cut through.

“It’s a cluttered market but I’ve seen some of the media ratings and certainly we’re in the top two or three A-League clubs in brand recognition and media exposure.

“We’ve been fantastically well-supported from FourFourTwo to the Herald Sun and Fox Sports guys. Everyone  has supported us and I think that’s a great sign for the code as a whole.”

Meanwhile Heart have rejected speculation linking them with Croatian based striker Ante Rukavina.
