MELBOURNE Heart are expected to unveil 45-year-old Dutchman John Van’t Schip as their inaugural A-League coach in Melbourne on Monday.
The club has a press conference booked for mid-morning to unveil the Ajax Amsterdam assistant coach who is set to lead the club in its first A-League season from 2010.
The former Dutch international ticks all the boxes for the sydnicate who specifically targeted a top class international coach.
Now the club can begin to ramp up its squad signings after football operations manager John Didulica also came on board this month.
Van't Schip was capped 41 times for Holland between the 80s and 90s and played for Ajax and Genoa.
Heart CEO Scott Munn told au.fourfourtwo.com earlier this month that signing an international coach by October was always the plan.
"Our key goals are to have a name, logo and brand values completed by Christmas," he said.
"Obviously we're in a trade window right now and we've written to those clubs who we want to speak to their players last week. [By Christmas] also we'd want to have the stadium and training deals."
The appointment is an exciting one for the A-League following the signing of Czech coach Vitezslav Lavicka at Sydney FC.
Van't Schip was at the Friday night blockbuster between Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC and is said to have been impressed by the game.
