Scottish Football Association president Campbell Ogilvie insists the temperature will be the main consideration when the SFA meets with Scotland's World Cup 2014 qualifying opponents in Brussels tomorrow to discuss the schedule of matches.
Ogilvie arrived with SFA chief executive Stewart Regan and manager Craig Levein in the Belgian capital tonight with an open mind but looking to avoid away games in the Balkan countries - Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia - when the heat could affect the Scots' game-plan. Belgium and Wales are the other teams in Scotland's group.
"Craig will have a preferred fixture list in his mind but there is no way you will get 100 per cent of what you are looking for," said Ogilvie.
"And no matter what way the fixtures come out, you have to move on and concentrate on the games themselves.
"Without going into specifics we would prefer where possible not to be playing in some of these counties in the very hot months.
"There are three countries from that area, we will be looking at that.
"But it might not work out that way."
Ogilvie revealed the horse-trading between countries in their desire to find acceptable qualification fixture lists will soon be ended.
"I don't know how many sports sit down in rooms and agree fixture schedules," he said.
"But come 2014, all the television rights in Europe, which includes the FIFA qualification matches, will be centralised and FIFA or UEFA will be selecting the fixtures as they do at the moment with the Champions League and Europa League.
"So this will be one of the few last meetings where the associations do sit down and endeavour to agree the fixtures."
