Henrique returned to competitive football with a masterclass performance to help Roar to a 4-2 win over the Australian Institute of Sport at Ballymore Stadium in a midweek National Youth League clash.

Things looked grim for Roar when Kamal Ibrahim won a penalty after just two minutes.

The speedy winger collected an over-hit cross on the left flank and drew a foul from Matthew Byrne, allowing Damir Lokvancic to bury the penalty into the top corner.

Brisbane responded positively to the goal and began to control the tempo of the match, but it was the AIS who were getting the shots on goal with Jake Barker-Daish forcing a good save from Luke Muir before Ibrahim sent a shot over.

First-team stars Michael Zullo and Henrique began to stamp their authority on the match in their return from injury and combined to go close on 23 minutes.

Zullo's cross from the left found Henrique on the top of the box and the Brazilian cut onto his left foot before shooting just wide.

It was a sign of things to come as Antony Schiavo netted an equaliser just two minutes later.

Henrique's header from a Luke Brattan corner was cleared off the line, but Brattan recollected the ball and sent in another dangerous ball which Michael Ryan headed onto the post.

Adam Sarota couldn't get a clean connection on the rebound but Schiavo was on hand to tap home from close range.

Just after the half-hour mark the hosts went in front when Sarota played in Henrique with a deft through ball and the slippery winger calmly slid the ball past the goalkeeper.

The action was coming thick and fast as the AIS returned fire just minutes later.

Ersin Kaya cut the ball back to Lokvancic, but the striker mis-hit the shot and allowed Ryan to clear off the line, before Patrick Dixon's follow-up deflected wide.

Roar took advantage of the missed opportunity and extended the lead just before the break when Tim Smits got on the end of an Henrique cross and put the ball in with a little bit of help from the post.

Henrique continued to terrorise the AIS defence after the break, latching onto a superb crossfield pass from Jordan Farina and side-footing the ball past Aaron Lennox in goal, only to be denied by the woodwork.

The little Brazilian came close again on the hour mark, taking Brattan's chip into the penalty area on his chest and volleying just past the near post, before making way for a well-earned rest.

Roar showed no signs of slowing down, however, as Tyler Thurtell unleashed a thunderbolt from outside the area which Lennox did well to reach, even if he could only push it onto the underside of the bar and in.

With the points all but secured Brisbane began to enjoy themselves and Smits was unlucky not to add a fifth on 90 minutes, powering a close-range header straight at Lennox.

The AIS countered through Aaron Peterson's superb angled ball for John Martinoski but Matt Mundy halted the chance with a superb sliding challenge.

Martinoski, however, got another chance at the death and took it emphatically, smashing the ball past Muir to give the AIS some consolation.
