EXCLUSIVE: Carlos Hernandez jets back into Melbourne this week with Victory still hopeful they can keep both the Costa Rican and Kevin Muscat.
Hernandez headed home at the end of last month after his son fell ill but the club expects him back in Victoria this week.
Once he is back in training, efforts will continue to try and nail down a deal with Costa Rican club LD Alajuelense for his services.
Speaking to au.fourfourtwo.com, Victory's Football Operations Manager Gary Cole said the club was looking forward to welcoming Hernandez back.
He said: "We're expecting him back in the country this week. We're still talking and the same with Kevin Muscat."
Cole revealed that the club was keen to ensure Muscat's continuing presence at the club in both a playing and coaching capacity.
He said the club was hopeful of good news in both cases.
Hernandez has also been linked with a move to the MLS in recent months.
