Worm and Holman played together at NEC Nijmegen in Holland for a number of years and when Melbourne Heart coach John van 't Schip came calling for Worm's services, Holman was the first one the former Dutch Youth international called.

"First of all I spoke to Brett Holman, who was an old player in my team, and he was very positive about the A-League and very positive about Melbourne. That made it easy for me," he said.

"This is a big opportunity for me. I think that this club is going to be really big. It's a big stadium and the coach is famous and I know him, he's really good. So I like to play for Melbourne Heart."

Worm arrived at the club this week after signing in February. He modelled the club's new away strip, which is very similar to the famous home strip worn by Argentine club River Plate, with a white background and a red diagonal stripe.

Van 't Schip's reputation as a player and an assistant coach at Ajax was also a vital reason in getting the versatile winger to the new club.

"He's a technical trainer he likes to play football, I like that also. That's the reason I'm here," he said.

Worm said he is looking forward to linking up in attack with compatriot Gerard Sibon, who was announced last week as the club's latest signing.

"He's a really good player. He can score from free kicks so easily and he is very good with his head. He can score very easy," he said.

Assistant coach Ante Milicic said Worm fitted perfectly into the type of player the coaching staff wanted to bring to the club.

"We've got to quickly put into place the way we want to play," said Milicic. "That's why we've recruited the kind of players we have, the ones we think are very adaptable that will understand the way we want to play.

"On Rutger, we needed a winger, someone who was very strong in one v one situations, had a lot of pace and good dribbling. John Van 't Schip knows his character when he played in Holland. We're delighted to have him in the club along with all the signings we've had."

The club also announced international recruiting firm Drake as a sleeve sponsor, with club CEO Scott Munn saying things were well on track both on and off the field.

"We're really happy with how things are going. We're really proud of being able to get blue chip companies along," he said.

"It's a joint commitment. They see the journey and they see what we've put in place. We've been going eight months. We've got 18 players. We launched our membership yesterday and we're targeting 7,500 members."

Munn said Worm's arrival at the club was a sign of the ambition and commitment the Heart has towards achieving excellence.

He added: "To see an international player who has played 100 games in the top league in Holland coming to Australia at 24 years of age, it says something about where are going and the commitment we have made."
