Below are the nine possible scenarios that will determine Sydney FC's fate. Six of the scenarios will see Sydney FC survive but one (Scenario 9) will see them knocked out of the competition.

Scenario 1
Sydney FC beats Shanghai Shenhua; Persik Kediri beats Urawa Reds
Then Sydney FC would need to: a) beat Urawa Reds in Japan; or b) draw with Urawa Reds in Japan and Persik Kediri not beat Shanghai Shenhua in China

Scenario 2
Sydney FC beats Shanghai Shenhua; Persik Kediri draws with Urawa Reds
Then Sydney FC would need to: a) beat Urawa Reds in Japan; or b) draw with Urawa Reds in Japan

Scenario 3
Sydney FC beats Shanghai Shenhua; Persik Kediri loses to Urawa Reds
Then Sydney FC would need to: a) beat Urawa Reds in Japan

Scenario 4
Sydney FC draws with Shanghai Shenhua; Persik Kediri beats Urawa Reds
Then Sydney FC would need to: a) beat Urawa Reds in Japan and Persik Kediri not beat Shanghai Shenhua in China

Scenario 5
Sydney FC draws with Shanghai Shenhua; Persik Kediri draws with Urawa Reds
Then Sydney FC would need to: a) beat Urawa Reds in Japan

Scenario 6

Then Sydney FC would need to: a) beat Urawa Reds in Japan

Scenario 7
