The 24-year-old was named Player of the Year after earlier in the evening receiving the Players' Players and People's Choice Awards.

Hughes has been a standout performer for the Fury this season, having started every match and only missed 45 minutes of action in 30 Hyundai A-League matches.

Mark was the Fury's second highest goal scorer this season and was second only to Newcastle's Nikolai Topor-Stanley for League interceptions.

Other Awards presented on the evening were the "Golden Boot Award" which was collected by David Williams and the Club Person of the Year Award which presented to Tony Lambert, the Club's Equipment Manager who gives up his time for free to do this important role.

A stunned but delighted Mark Hughes had the following to say after his memorable hat-trick of awards; "I'm very happy and delighted but humbled at the same time to have received such acknowledgments from the Club, my fellow team-mates and our supporters.

"The decision to come and play in Australia has been life-changing for me. I believe I've improved as a footballer and grown as a man.

"I didn't really know what to expect when I made the move to the Fury but I've thoroughly enjoyed myself and apart from our League position, I wouldn't change a thing.

"I'd like to thank Rabieh Krayem, Robbie Middleby, the coaching staff and everyone at the Club for all their support this season but I'd also like to thank all the Fury fans for sticking by the Club through this tough season."

Remarking on the successful season Hughes has had, Football Operations Manager Robbie Middleby said; "Mark has been a standout for us this season and deserves all the praise he has received this evening.

"It's been said many times before but he plays football with the knowledge of someone ten years his senior. Not only is he an exceptional talent but a great leader and has been a constant for us this season."

In summarising the season Mark Hughes has, Fury CEO Rabieh Krayem said; "This evening Mark has received Awards which were voted for by the Club, his peers and our supporters, which demonstrates how much he is valued as a footballer and a person by everyone associated with the Fury.

"Although Mark is a very talented footballer, he plays with the commitment and passion which embodies what it means to be a Fury player and always leads by example.

"We continue to remain optimistic about the Fury's future and we see Mark Hughes being part of this Club for years to come."
