Get ready for another action packed weekend in the Sunshine State.
Redlands City Devils Vs Logan United FC, Sat 2 May, 7:00pm, Cleveland Showgrounds, Cleveland
When Redlands City Devils and Logan United clash on Saturday night, three former Devils will line up against their old Club. Josh Filewood, Raj Oshen and Yoshi Okada, all played for Redlands last year before making the switch to play for Logan United in 2009. The Devils go into the clash hoping that defender Evan Parrish's ankle injury is not as bad as first thought, and will be keen to see newcomer Chris Bale continue his exciting form after a impressive debut last weekend. Logan United had the bye in round seven, and will be ready to go against Peter Bannon's men.
Olympic FC Vs Capricorn Cougars, Sat 2 May, 7:00pm, Goodwin Park, Yeronga
High-flying Olympic FC host Capricorn Cougars in sizzling form and full of confidence after beating local rivals Brisbane Strikers 3-2 last weekend which sent them four points clear at the top of the table. Cougars, on the other hand, have been inconsistent this season with two wins and four losses, and will be hoping that skipper Roy Bob will be able to play despite injuring his ankle early in last week's loss to Redlands. Cougars will be missing defender Dylan Kussrow through suspension.
Whitsunday Miners Vs Brisbane Strikers, Sat 2 May, 7:00pm, Harrup Park Country Club, Mackay
Brisbane Strikers make the long trip up to Mackay to play Whitsunday Miners at Harrup Park. After their devastating loss to Olympic last time out, coach Stuart McLaren will expect his players to bounce back with an immediate response against the Miners. Given the fact that Strikers have a game in hand, it is ever more important to keep the pace on Olympic. The Miners will be hoping for a large home crowd and will push the Strikers to their limit.
Bundaberg Spirit Vs FNQ Bulls, Sat 2 May, 7:00pm, Martens Oval, Bundaberg
After last week's win over Miners, FNQ Bulls coach Peter Tokesi named their clash against Bundaberg Spirit as "must win". Tokesi will now realise that the task may not be as easy as originally thought after the Spirit were defeated by NQ Razorbacks by only one goal, when many predicted it would be much more. Spirit coach Richard Mitchell said it was his team's best performance of the season and predicted a tough encounter with the Bulls, but knows his players have the ability to challenge the league newcomers. While Bundaberg Spirit are still bottom of the table, FNQ Bulls' second win of the season last weekend started their push up the ladder and now sit in seventh.
NQ Razorbacks Vs Queensland Academy of Sport, Sat 2 May, 7:00pm, Townsville Sports Reserve
The game of the round between NQ Razorbacks and Queensland Academy of Sport sees fourth take on third, with a win for either side confirming their place in the top four in the league. If QAS win, they will keep firm grip on third place and will be especially keen to do so as their opponents have a game in hand. If the Razorbacks win, they will leapfrog QAS into third place. With Redlands City Devils hot on their tails, a loss could mean either side can slip to fifth. Sean Burke and Luke Rowell are expected to return from injury for the Razorbacks, while Ryan Mottin's back injury is a concern for the QAS.
