Milan Badelj- 6

Was rewarded for his movement off the ball by securing the breakthrough goal for Croatia in the 53rd minute.

Luka Modric- 8.5

Played a deeper midfield role that allowed him to dictate the movement of the ball through the centre of the field.

Marko Pjaca- 9

Forceful running in between defenders and impressive ball control created issues for the Icelandic defence whenever he was on the ball.

A stat from the 38th minute registered Kovacic’s passing accuracy at 94 percent. He regularly found his teammates’ feet time and time again

Ivan Perisic- 7.5

Worked hard off the ball to get into scoring positions and secured the win for Croatia with a goal in the 90th minute.

Andrej Kramaric- 8

A key part of the give and go play up front that proved difficult for the Icelandic defence to deal with.

Subs

Filip Bradaric- 6

Subbed on in the 65th minute but didn’t have any real impact on the game.

Dejan Lovren- 5

Gave away a penalty with a handball in the box that let Iceland back in the game.

Ivan Rakitic- 5.5

Came on for the final 10 minutes and didn’t have time to make his presence felt, aside from a well-delivered corner and free-kick from just outside the box.
