Roberto Mancini's side produced a stylish display with Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic opening the scoring with a well-taken penalty before Maicon added a second to give the Nerazzurri a two-goal lead at the break.

David Suazo, handed a start by Mancini alongside Ibrahimovic, justified his selection by netting his third goal of the season on 55 minutes to wrap up the win.

Luis Jimenez kept his starting place as he went in search of three goals in as many games.

The Chilean international produced a decent display before eventually making way for Santiago Solari.

Mancini also handed a start to Benfica youth product Vitor Pele who put in a promising performance on the right side of midfield.

Lazio welcomed back captain Luciano Zauri at left back while coach Delio Rossi decided to start the more experienced Stefano Mauri behind the strikers ahead of Mourad Meghni in a move that ultimately backfired.

The home side dominated from start to finish with the visitors only managing to look dangerous late on thanks mainly to the introduction of the young Meghni in place of the ineffective Mauri.

The Beneamata almost opened the scoring in the 11th minute as a nice Ibrahimovic pass almost made its way to Suazo but Lazio goalkeeper Marco Ballotta was just able to beat him to it.

The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute as Inter were awarded a penalty after Guglielmo Stendardo pulled down Nicolas Burdisso in the box.

Ibrahimovic stepped up and coolly blasted into the top of the goal right footed.

Pele almost doubled the lead in the 32nd minute as he hit a decent right-footed effort from the edge of the area having picked up a clearance.

Brazilian full-back Maicon made it two for the league leaders less than a minute later as he profited from some poor defending to tap in unmarked from a corner.

Inter continued to dominate after the break with Suazo pressing immediately.

The Honduran did excellently to hold off the challenges of Ledesma and Emilson Sanchez Cribari before shooting wide.

Tommaso Rocchi tried his luck a minute later with a right footed shot from 25 yards for the visitors but scuffed his effort wide.

Suazo made it three in the 55th minute after he latched on to a lovely ball from Esteban Cambiasso.

The former Cagliari striker found himself one-on-one with Ballotta and coolly placed the ball past the veteran goalkeeper right footed.

Lazio looked to be lacking cohesion as the hosts maintained most of the possession allowing them to turn up the style.

Luis Jimenez produced a lovely piece of skill as he flicked the ball over one defender before volleying left footed just over the cross bar.

Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar proved he was still awake in the 71st minute as produced a decent save to stop a powerful shot from Meghni.

Lazio seemed to liven up slightly as Meghni and Rocchi looked for a consolation goal.

The latter shot wide before being denied again minutes later in spectacular style by a stretching Julio Cesar, as he looked to hit a half volley into the far top corner of the goal.

Substitute Santiago Solari should have made it four for the home side in the last minute of normal time as he headed wide unmarked.
