A Marco Materazzi penalty in the first half, a Maicon strike and a Luis Figo penalty after the break gave the hosts a 3-0 win which saw them surpass Chelsea's 95-point haul achieved in 2005.

The win maintained Roberto Mancini's side's 22-point lead over second-placed Roma, while struggling Torino, whose Serie A status was already secure after a draw with Livorno last weekend, finished 17th, one place and one point above the drop zone.

The Nerazzurri have been in cruise control since securing the Scudetto last month and almost took the lead as early as the second minute when Argentina international Esteban Cambiasso headed over from Maicon's right-wing cross.

The hosts took a deserved lead 10 minutes later, Torino goalkeeper Massimo Taibi bringing down Mariano Gonzalez and contraversial defender Materazzi stepped up to score the resulting penalty to take his tally for the season into double figures.

Torino responded well, Alessandro Rosina curling a free kick a yard wide of Francesco Toldo's right-hand post and veteran striker Roberto Muzzi firing across goal from the right angle of the area.

Inter almost doubled their lead seven minutes before the break when Maxwell pounced on a loose ball and shot over from a Figo corner.

Rosina again showed his ability from set pieces 11 minutes after the restart, putting a free-kick just the wrong side of a post from 25 yards, but it was Inter who went 2-0 in front on the hour mark with a goal made in Brazil.

Maicon may be a defender, but showed he is just as effective with the ball at his feet, cutting in from the right and dancing past three tackles before shooting left-footed past Taibi and into the far corner.

And six minutes later it was three when visiting captain Oscar Brevi tripped Gonzalez in the box and Portuguese winger Figo tucked away the penalty in what could be his last game for the club.

Torino nearly grabbed a consolation, Gianluca Comotto firing narrowly wide in the 70th minute, but the San Siro side nearly moved further ahead when substitute Lampros Choutos latched onto Santiago Solari's defence-splitting pass and poked the ball home only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.

But a dominant Inter were still not finshed and another substitute Alvaro Recoba almost got in on the act three minutes from time when he forced a fine save from substitute goalkeeper Alberto Fontana with a left-foot screamer as the champions completed a record-breaking season in style.
