The arrival of former Cagliari forward David Suazo at the club this summer has left Adriano out of favour with the Nerazzurri as Hernan Crespo, Julio Cruz, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Suazo are all ahead of the Brazilian on Roberto Mancini's list.

"A loan move could be the most intelligent move for him (Adriano)," admitted Inter owner Massimo Moratti.

Parma or Manchester City have been touted in the Italian media as possible destinations for the 25-year-old Adriano who only scored five times in 23 games for his club last season.

"One thing is certain, we are very surprised with the club's idea to send the player on loan," said Adriano's agent Gilmar Rinaldi.

However, Adriano watched from the San Siro stands as his team drew 1-1 against Udinese on Sunday.

"We like Adriano," admitted Mancini. "We had hoped for some time that we would see the best Adriano, but I reiterate that we are looking for the best possible solution. One option is for him to go and play where he will find more first-team opportunities and will be given more continuity."
