Inter Milan remain patient in their search for a playmaker after failing to prise Dutch star Wesley Sneijder away from Real Madrid.
Inter and Real had reportedly reached an agreement for Sneijder to move to the San Siro, only for the Holland international to change his mind.
The defending Serie A champions had also previously failed in their attempts to sign Chelsea midfielder Deco.
Reports in Italy have now linked Sampdoria's Antonio Cassano with the Nerazzurri, but Moratti appears in no hurry to dip into the transfer market.
"The fans want a playmaker and we need to find a playmaker," Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti said.
"But we must find the right one otherwise you risk making a mistake.
"We have a coach (Jose Mourinho) that must build a team and we will have to try to take a player that he considers to be a better fit for the team."
Inter signed Lucio, Samuel Eto'o, Diego Milito and Thiago Motta earlier this summer.
