Burton Albion’s club record signing Jackson Irvine scored his first goal for his new club in a breakthrough 3-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship overnight.
The Socceroos midfielder headed home from John Mousinho’s cross on the stroke of half-time to make it 2-1.
The goal came in only Irvine’s third appearance for Burton since his move from Ross County.
He helped the newly promoted Brewers to their first win and points of the Championship campaign.
"I'm really happy to get my first goal and get off the mark,” Irvine said.
The Aussie added: "The team has been playing well since the first minute of the first game. We are three or four points off where we should be.
"You can't play as well as we have done and not pick up any points. You need that bit of luck and be clinical in front of goal."
