PERTH skipper Jacob Burns has been banned for two matches for striking John Hutchinson in the Glory's 2-1 loss to Central Coast on Saturday night.
Burns was slapped with the two-game ban on Tuesday after the A-League's match review panel viewed footage of the off-the-ball incident in the 44th minute of the nib Stadium clash.
The former Socceroos midfielder was found guilty of assault on the Mariners skipper, meaning he will miss the Glory's trip to Brisbane on Saturday to face the Roar as well as their home clash with Wellington on December 6.
No other players were charged from the weekend's round of A-League action
The decision is a huge blow for Perth, already missing key personnel through injury.
Star-signing William Gallas hobbled off during the Mariners clash and Scott Jamieson's season is effectively over after he ruptured his Achilles tendon.
Club owner and Chairman Tony Sage was described as "livid" following the ruling.
“It’s an absolute disgrace,” Sage said in a club statement.
“We will take all legal avenues open to us to ensure that Jacob plays this weekend."
Glory CEO Jason Brewer was similarly unhappy with the outcome.
“It is very disappointing for the club, our fans and of course Jacob himself, that the MRP have now issued him with a two match suspension.” Brewer said.
“We were obviously very surprised yesterday afternoon to have received notification from the MRP regarding this citation.
“However in conjunction with Jacob and our advisors, we reviewed the television footage and submitted a very detailed response early this morning.
"To have now heard that the MRP have handed out this two match suspension to Jacob is frustrating and very difficult to take.
“Clearly I am not happy with this, nor with the MRP process and we will certainly be working with our advisors and lawyers to determine what we can do."
Meanwhile, Sydney defender Tiago Calvano is also expected to learn his fate on Wednesday night over the incident where he made contact with referee Peter Green in the Sky Blues' recent 3-2 win over Melbourne Victory.
Calvano shoved the hand of the whistleblower as he pulled a red card out of his pocket to dismiss Sydney defender Mark Warren in the 25th minute of the Allianz Stadium clash.
The incident could see Calvano rubbed out for an extended period of time, with the A-League taking a stern view on players touching match officials.
Current Perth Glory goalkeeper Danny Vukovic was banned for nine months after he infamously struck the arm of Mark Shield during the 2008 Grand Final while playing for Central Coast.
