The annual friendly tournament, now in its 19th year, is traditionally used by Japan and two invited nations as a warm-up for upcoming international fixtures.

Japan coach Takeshi Okada welcomed the announcement, saying that these games were essential as the World Cup qualifying campaign nears its end.

"To aim and reach a higher level, it's important to experience matches with stronger opponents," he said.

"I'm so pleased to see the arrangements with those teams.

"We'd like to play them well before going into the World Cup qualifiers.

"I believe that there is no team in the world but Chile who applies hard pressing all over the pitch, while Belgium always show consistent performance."

Japan will play Chile on May 27 in Osaka and meet Belgium on May 31 at the National Stadium in Tokyo.

Chile and Belgium will also face each other on May 29 in Chiba.

Japan are currently placed second behind Australia in Group A in the Asian final-round qualifiers.
