Three-time Asian champions Japan will warm-up for their opening World Cup qualifier against Thailand at the start of February with international friendlies with Chile and Bosnia-Herzegovina at the end of January.
Japan, who have been drawn in Group B alongside Bahrain, Oman and Thailand, will entertain Chile on January 26 before hosting Bosnia-Herzegovina four days later.
Current head coach Ivica Osim remains in hospital after suffering a stroke earlier this month, but has shown signs of regaining consciousness over the last few days.
The Japan Football Association revealed earlier this week they are ready to offer former coach Takeshi Okada, who coached Japan at the 1998 World Cup, the chance to succeed Osim.
