Birmingham goalkeeper Ben Foster made a huge mistake to gift West Ham a 2-1 lead in the first leg of their Carling Cup semi-final.
The England squad man stretched out a hand to stop a tame shot from Carlton Cole, but the ball somehow squeezed under his leg and dribbled into the net, much to Foster's embarrassment.
Here, Press Association Sport looks at more high-profile goalkeeping mistakes.
ROBERT GREEN (England 1 United States 1, World Cup June 12 2010)
Clint Dempsey's tame shot from 25 yards looked to carry no danger but goalkeeper Green somehow fumbled it and watched as it spun agonisingly over the goal-line, as the US came from behind to grab a shock draw.
LUKASZ FABIANSKI (Porto 2 Arsenal 1, Champions League, February 17 2010)
Fabianski pushed a cross from Silvestre Varela into his own net, having been surprised at the angle of the delivery. Then he was caught out when he picked up a back-pass from Sol Campbell and Porto took a quick free-kick inside the Arsenal penalty area, with Ruben Micael feeding Falcao who rolled the ball into an empty net.
PAUL ROBINSON (Croatia 2 England 0, Euro 2008 qualifier, October 11 2006)
With England already a goal down in their crucial away fixture against Croatia, Robinson allowed Gary Neville's seemingly harmless back-pass to roll over his foot to hand the home side a 2-0 lead and put the game well beyond Steve McClaren's men.
DAVID SEAMAN (Brazil 2 England 1, World Cup, June 21, 2002)
The Arsenal goalkeeper allowed a long-range free-kick from Ronaldinho to beat him for a goal which ended England's hopes of winning the World Cup in Japan and South Korea at the quarter-final stage.
DAVID JAMES (Austria 2 England 2, World Cup qualifier, September 4 2004)
The then Manchester City player allowed a long-range shot by Andreas Ivanschitz to squirm underneath his body for the equaliser as England threw away a two-goal lead.
DAVID SEAMAN (Real Zaragoza 2 Arsenal 1, European Cup Winners' Cup final, May 10, 1995)
Holders Arsenal were just 10 seconds away from a penalty shoot-out when Nayim produced a stunning goal for the Spaniards. The ball dropped to the former Tottenham star fully 45 yards from goal and tight to the touchline. But Nayim had spotted Seaman stranded at the edge of his penalty area and lobbed an outrageous shot over the back-pedalling keeper.
PETER ENCKELMAN (Birmingham 3 Aston Villa 0, Premier League, September 16, 2002)
With his team trailing 1-0 at St Andrews, the keeper's lazy attempt to control Olof Mellberg's throw-in from the left saw the ball bounce past Enckelman's boot and roll over the line.
MASSIMO TAIBI (Manchester United 3 Southampton 3, Premiership, September 25, 1999)
There appeared little danger when Matt Le Tissier hit a gentle daisycutter from 25 yards out six minutes into the second half, but Taibi - a £4.5million summer signing from Reggina - missed the ball and it trickled through his legs and over the line.
