MOTHERWELL have confirmed the signing of former Newcastle Jets star Francis Jeffers until the end of the season after the Hunter side opted not to extend his contract in Australia.
The 30-year-old former England international has moved to Fir Park after an impressive guest star stint in the A-League.
Jeffers, who scored on his solitary England appearance against Australia in 2003, returns to the Clydesdale Bank Premier League following a loan spell with Rangers in 2005 during which he failed to score in eight appearances.
Jeffers began his career with Everton, before moves to Arsenal, Charlton, Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday.
Motherwell manager Stuart McCall said: "Francis is an excellent player and someone we think will score goals in the Scottish Premier League.
"We hope Franny can get back to some of his early career form.
"There is absolutely no doubting his ability and in the conversations I've had with him, he seems really hungry for this challenge."
