The 18-man squad will be competing in the tournament which runs from July 9-19. The Joeys will play 4 games in 6 days, against Bahrain, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

Kantarovski told his club's official website: "I’m rapt to be included in the Joeys’ squad, and hopefully I’ll see some game time in the tournament. It looks like it’s going to be a chance to get some great experience over there."

The youngest player ever to sign a Hyundai A-League contract, says his involvement will provide invaluable experience heading into the new season.

He said: "There’s a lot going on at the moment, and I’m hoping to bring back everything that I learn while I’m away and use it when I return to the Jets. I know it’s a big season ahead and I’ll be using it as a chance to grow as a player.”

Coach Martin Crook said: "This is an important part of our preparation for the Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) Under 16 Championships, and gives me a good opportunity to see the boys in action in conditions different from those they're used to at home."

The AFC Under 16 Championships will be held in Uzbekistan in October.

Crook said: "It is also the first time this group of players has played in a tournament against players of their own age. Past tournaments have been against older players, so this will be a very good test of just how we're doing at this age group.

"Being able to benchmark our performance at the age group is particularly important as this age group includes the players who will form the core of the Qantas Socceroos in 2018."
