Following the recent success for Perth Glory signing ex-Ajax winger Victor Sikora, Newcastle Jets are said to be following up on their enquiry into the availablilty of French side Lorient's Bertrand Robert.

Apparently Newcastle boss Garry Van Egmond sees the tallented left sided player as the ideal way to bolster his waning squad in the lead-up to the club's Asian Champion's League campaign.
Robert has spent this season on loan at FC Ajaccio in the french second division and is said to be frustrated at a lack of opportunities to prove his ability.

Newcastle face stiff competition however, with Melbourne Victory and Queensland Roar both reportedly keeping tabs on the twenty-five year-old.
