The Jets are preparing for their opening clash of the ACL against Beijing Guoan with the strong possibility that they could be lining up against Griffiths, currently on loan to the Chinese outfit.

While the Jets coach knows Griffiths will need to be kept under close watch, if selected, he has stressed to his players that their hosts will not be a one-man team.

Van Egmond told au.fourfourtwo.com: "We have spoken about Joel but Joel is not the sole focus here. We know there are 10 other players out on that pitch that have the potential to hurt us.

"You have to look for the threats from all over the pitch."

Van Egmond admits getting information about the Chinese side has been a challenge. He said: "It's more difficult to find things out at this stage because they haven't yet started their season over there.

"Having said that, it might not have been too easy for them either as we've had quite a few personnel changes since the end of the A-League season.

"But we're really looking forward to it, very keen to do as well as we possibly can and anxious to get off to a good start in the group."
