Tomi Juric broke a barren run of goal-scoring form from the penalty spot in FC Luzern's 3-1 win over St. Gallen.
The goal was Juric' first in five games and only his seventh in 27 matches this season as Luzern hold onto a Europa League qualification berth.
He also registered an assist, his fifth of the season, in the 3-1 win at Swissporarena. Luzern sit fourth in the league - a successful season for the Swiss Super League club - but Juric has been less than prolific.
Never an out-and-out goal-scorer, the striker has had to be at his wiley best to keep his place in the side. Juric has 14 goals in 52 league appearances for Luzern and eight in 34 for the Socceroos.
Juric has scored just twice in his last 13 games in Switzerland, while the assists had been drying up as well. Working heavily in the strikers' favour is that he has basically no competition for the strikers role at Luzern - they only have two other natural strikers in their team, and they're both under 21-years-old.
However, Juric' lack of competition may not favour the forward or the Socceroos in the long-run. Tim Cahill hasn't appeared in his last two matches for Millwall, while Jamie Maclaren, Apostoulos Giannou and Golgol Mebrahtu were all left out of the last Socceroos squad.
With Andrew Nabbout hardly confident in a sole-forward role, this could mean a culture of indifference evolving among the Socceroos forward line.
With goals at a premium in Bert van Marwijk's counter-attacking philosophy, Juric is going to have to be at his very best for Australia.
