It's a throwback to better times for the 1972 FA cup winners
English Championship side Leeds United have teamed up with their 18/19 kit supplier Kappa to unveil a range of throwback shirts available to purchase.
Having released their highly popular third kit a month ago, Leeds have given fans even more merchandise for the current season with two retro shirts and a tracksuit available for purchase on the club’s online store.
Kappa produced an incredible 30-second Youtube video revealing the throwback range, describing it as: “A collection inspired by the 80's celebrating the street and soccer culture of [Leeds].”
Amongst the collection is a blue-and-yellow pinstripe effort with a white body and blue shoulders with the club’s famous branding just off the collar.
A white-bodied polo also features in the range and, like the other pieces, bears the iconic ‘Kappa sleeves’, a well-renowned characteristic of jerseys produced by the Italian kit-manufacturer.
The final piece is a blue tracksuit which borrows the same sleeves from the shirts but is emblazoned with the year 1919 in a large font across the back, commemorating the club’s birth as Leeds United.

Each of the three designs feature the iconic script-font ‘LUFC’ logo which comprised the club’s crest back in 1972 when Leeds emerged victorious over Arsenal in the FA cup final.
Whilst there’s been a degree of uncertainty and mixed reviews about the collection, the overwhelming feeling from fans has been that they’ve appreciated the recent moves towards a distinctly ‘classic Leeds’ feel.
They’ll likely be more focused on supporting United in their upcoming fixture against QPR as the club looks to keep in touch with league leaders Norwich City, just one point clear of second-placed Leeds.
