JOSH Kennedy capped a fine year with Japanese champions Nagoya Grampus by finishing joint J.League topscorer after a goal in Saturday's 2-1 final day victory over Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
Kennedy ended the season with 17 goals, alongside Jubilo Iwata's Ryoichi Maeda who also scored on the final day of the season in their 6-2 loss at Cerezo Osaka.
But the beanpole Australian striker might have claimed the honour outright after missing a glorious chance to score on the stroke of half-time when he headed Hayuma Tanaka's cross over the bar.
Earlier, Kennedy had put Nagoya ahead on 22 minutes when he met Yoshizumi Ogawa's inviting cross with a trademark close-range header.
Magnum doubled Nagoya's advantage soon after, before Kennedy spurned his chance to take his season tally to 18.
Sanfrecce replied through Tadanari Lee with almost the final kick of the first-half, but Nagoya did enough to claim the victory which capped off a superb season for Dragan Stojkovic's side.
