Kennedy, 28, has played in Japan's J.League with Nagoya Grampus since mid-2009, playing a key part in the club's title success in 2010.

The Australian resides in Nagoya with his young family, with his wife – basketballer Jacinta Hamilton - set to give birth to their third child next month.

And despite last month's devastation in Japan, Kennedy said he was determined to remain in the J.League.

"I never once had a thought to go home and not return," Kennedy told The Weekend Australian.

"We had a week's break after the incident and then it was just a matter of when to come back to training if everything was okay."

Kennedy added: "Since day one, the club and everyone here has made it quite easy to start life with a family. It's comfortable, I enjoy it and the football has been good.

"Nagoya is a good place, it's not a massive city like Tokyo, but it's big enough.

“It's probably the best football I have played with the quality of the passing and the technical side of things.

"I can't see myself moving or wanting to move in the foreseeable future. I am happy here and the family is happy here."

The J.League resumes this weekend, with Kennedy's Nagoya away to Urawa Red Diamonds on Sunday.
