NORTH Queensland Fury's Kenyan triallist Francis Ouma has pressed for a permanent stay in Townsville after scoring two goals in a pre-season match against local side Razorbacks.
Ouma, who has been trialling with the Fury in Townsville for the past fortnight, went goalless in a friendly a week ago, before his brace on Thursday which has prompted the Fury to extend his trial.
North Queensland Fury assistant coach Stuart McLaren admits he likes what he's seen so far but wants to see more from the Kenyan striker.
"Seeing him chip in a couple of goals was encouraging because that's where the question marks were after the first game," McLaren told the Townsville Bulletin.
"He has not had an issue getting himself into position, and after that last game he did improve his link play as well.
"For us to be in a position to make the right call and be fair to Francis we want to see him at least twice more I think."
McLaren continued on the former Kenyan League golden boot winner: "He has a good work ethic, he fits the bill in that sense.
"To start with, our expectations were fairly open, we heard plenty of good things and saw good things of him on video.
"There is no doubt be has done some very good things while he has been here which is why we are keeping him around."
Ouma will get another chance to impress the Fury coaches when they travel to Mackay to face the Whitsunday Miners next.
