NEW Zealand are fuming over a FIFA ruling handing their opponent Bahrain a clear advantage if the team’s World Cup qualifier on Saturday is locked at 0-0 after 90 minutes and goes into extra time.

The New Zealand FA has learned that any goals scored by the visitors in the 30 minutes of extra time will still count double, leaving the All Whites needing to score twice to win the tie and dodge a penalty shootout.
The sides drew 0-0 in the first leg of this qualifier play-off in Manama last month.
The Kiwis are crying foul given the decision to play home and away is made by FIFA. The Kiwis had rportedly expected the game to go straight to penalties if the match was still at a scoreless stalemate after 90 minutes.
Now though, the team playing the second leg at home has just 90 minutes to score the more valuable away goals in the first leg whereas the visiting team has the potential of 120 minutes to claim that advantage.
What this may influence is the tactics for this do-or-die clash. All-Whites coach Ricki Herbert would be more inclined to push for a win in regulation time than his counterpart Milan Macala who will know he has an advantage should the game be locked at 0-0 after 90 minutes.
Meanwhile, the excitement is reaching fever pitch in New Zealand. Key players Ryan Nelson of Blackburn Rovers and A-League hotshot Shane Smeltz arrived at Wellington airport in the last 24 hours to join the squad which has begun preparations for the game.
The English Premier League star told waiting media: "Trust me if the game was on the moon I wouldn't care a bit. I'm just excited to get back in and am looking forward to it."
A second lot of 500 extra seats at Westpac Stadiums sold out in six minutes taking the capacity to 36,000. The first lot of 500 added seats sold out in one minute.
