Mario Balotelli, Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko were all on target in a one-sided win at the Etihad Stadium with Blackburn barely mustering a shot on goal.

The result sees City move five points clear at the top of the league with neighbours United playing at Norwich tomorrow.

Kompany though immediately put the result behind him and was adamant City will have to continue in the same vein for the rest of the season.

He told Sky Sports 2: "There is no such thing as an easy game for us - to win the league we will have to do the same week in week out."

Kompany added: "People say being leader you have the pressure from those behind but I think it is the opposite."

Of the game, the defender said: "We did the right thing, we played in the right manner, the passion was there.

"We were concentrated as well - I think it was the right result."
