In a brilliant attacking display at Levante's Estadio Ciudad de Valencia, the four attacking players in Deportivo's 4-2-1-2-1 formation all scored with Juan Carlos Valeron and right-winger Bruno Gama each adding an assist to their goals.

The victory takes Deportivo from 18th up to 16th on 29 points, two clear of the relegation zone in Spain's top tier of football, while Levante (40 points) dropped to 12th in the standings.

Valeron got Deportivo underway on Saturday with a half-volley on the turn after Manuel Pablo's cross found the veteran attacking midfielder at the penalty spot.

In the 20th minute, a rapid counter-attack saw Gama breeze past a Levante defender on the half-way line before passing to Pizzi, who sent a blistering shot into the top corner.

Deportivo's lead striker Nelson Oliveira was the next to score, turning at the top of the box to fire his shot past the left hand of the hosts' goalkeeper Gustavo Munua in the 29th minute.

After an impressive first half, the visitors had to wait until second-half stoppage time for their fourth goal with Valeron teeing up Gama.

In Malaga, the home side bounced back from their heartbreaking UEFA Champions League elimination to knock off Osasuna 1-0 although they had to wait for Julio Baptista's winner.

The 31-year-old Brazilian scored in the 93rd minute, finding space in the penalty area after a knock down from Duda's free-kick to slot the ball past Osasuna's goalkeeper Andres Fernandez.

Having conceded two late goals on Tuesday to lose their Champions League quarter-final tie to Borussia Dortmund, Malaga celebrated Baptista's goal with plenty of passion, clearly thrilled to put those bad memories from Germany to bed.

In Barcelona, Sergio Garcia denied Valencia an incredible victory, scoring the equaliser as Espanyol notched a 3-3 draw.

Espanyol looked to have secured three points when Verdu scored in the 82nd minute but goals to Jonas (87th minute) and Roberto Soldado (91st minute) put Valencia on track for victory.

But in the third minute of second-half stoppage time, Garcia got on the end of a goal-kick from Espanyol goalkeeper Francisco Castilla, held off Victor Ruiz and flung his foot at the ball to send it into the roof of the net, earning the hosts a point.

In Saturday's other La Liga match, Real Valladolid overcame Getafe 2-1.
