The 19-year old made an immediate impact after breaking into the Reds' first team last season, fueling speculation he could seek a move overseas to develop his raw talent.

When asked about advice handed down from Verbeek, who called Leckie into his Asian Cup qualifier squad for the match with Indonesia in March, the Dutchman proved far more forthcoming with pro-Euro advice than Vidmar.

"My goal is to go overseas one day," Leckie told Insider. "Pim said that I'd have to go overseas at one stage as I'm a good player [but] I still need to learn a lot more."

However Vidmar, who moved from Adelaide City to the Belgium league as a 24-year old, is unlikely to be keen to lose one of his star performers in the wake of a poor A-League season.

"No, he [Vidmar] hasn't said anything about moving overseas," said Leckie. "He just wants to work with me and see me do well in the A-League with a couple of good seasons of first team football."
