Reports on Thursday had suggested that Salem Patel of the club's owners GFH Capital was hoping to prevent alcohol being sold at the stadium in order to tie in with the company's Muslim beliefs.

The Bahrain-based company assumed control of Leeds in December 2012 and recently financed the club's first player purchase of over £1million in eight years to bring Luke Murphy to Elland Road from Crewe Alexandra.

However, managing director David Haigh has insisted the owners are not looking to enforce their beliefs upon supporters, who will still be able to purchase alcohol from the matchday kiosks.

"The board has never discussed banning alcohol and has no plans to change the current licensing arrangements at Elland Road," he told The Yorkshire Evening Post.

"Enjoying a pint before and after watching the match is a time-honoured Yorkshire tradition, as indeed it is among many British football fans.

"Equally the club will continue to offer a selection of wines and other alcoholic drinks to our corporate guests."

Leeds have begun their Championship season in good form, winning one and drawing twice, while also progressing to the second round of the League Cup.
