Inter Milan coach Leonardo was ultimately satisfied as his side overcame a frustrating first half to beat Genoa 5-2 at the San Siro.
Genoa led 1-0 at the interval courtesy of a Rodrigo Palacio goal.
However, Inter fans were rewarded with a superb second-half performance which saw their team score five goals, two of which came from Samuel Eto'o.
Leonardo said: "I didn't say any magic words or shout at my players at half-time. It can happen that you play 45 minutes badly and then you react.
"We didn't show up on the pitch and the players knew very well they had made mistakes.
"The reaction was automatic and there was no need for magical words.
"I believe my team is growing. We are starting to see the future at the crucial time of the season.
"We are in the battle for the scudetto and we will not stop fighting."
Today's victory was Inter's fourth successive win in Serie A and kept the Nerazzurri second in the the standings, five points behind league leaders AC Milan with 10 games remaining.
Milan won 1-0 at Juventus on Saturday.
