NORTH Queensland Fury's Head of Sports Science Alan McCall has been headhunted to join former Socceroos physio Phil Burgess at EPL giants Liverpool.
McCall, 30, joined Fury from SPL side Celtic in January 2009 but said the move to join the five times European Champions was too good to pass up.
"This decision really hasn't been easy for me," he said today. "I love everything about Fury, their supporters and the fabulous landscape of North Queensland.
"But it's not every day you get offered a job at one of the most famous football clubs in the world and this opportunity is what dreams are made of.
"It's been a real privilege and an honour to be involved in creating something fantastic here at Fury and I'll be sad to leave a club who are on the verge of great things."
Former Fury captain Robbie Middleby - now the club's Head of Football Operations - paid tribute to his former colleague on behalf of everyone at the club.
"Alan is truly in a league of his own when it comes to the field of Sports Science," he said.
"He combines traditional and progressive approaches to injury prevention and rehabilitation, whilst using the latest technologies and insight to help each member of the squad reach their potential.
"Not only is Alan a leader at what he does, but also has an exceptional knowledge of football and played an important role in helping assemble this year's squad.
"Although Alan will be sorely missed by everyone at the club, we are immensely proud of his appointment at Liverpool FC and look forward to welcoming him back to Townsville in years to come."
